drifting into space...

wow, its been a while since i've written here... im so out of practice. so much has happened in the past month-- state of the union (and war with Iraq/Iran/Caspian Sea, all over oil), start of the winter quarter, midterms... zach's bar mitzvah. how can I possibly discuss all of them in the fleeeting minutes?

i guess ill just talk about things that I would want to remember years from now... (not saying everything else is trivial). The war on iraq is imminient. I know its wrong to starve and kill innocent civilians, but truly, is there anything that I can do, moreover, that the world can do to stop it? everything in this war is motivated somehow by money. Iraq is the worlds largest oil reserve that we don't control and Saddam doesn't want to "play fair" with what we deem is our oil. The whole situation disgusts me. My sociology professor (who predicted this war in '99) figures that since Iran is in between Iraq and Afghanistan (and it has the 5th or 6th largest oil reserve) that Iran is next on the "terrorist sympathizer list". and after that? the caspian sea (more oil). everything in this line of thinking is oil related. now, one would ask, why would Bush want to attack these countries just for oil? does everyone remember Vice President Dick Cheney? FYI, before he became VP, he was CEO of Halliburton, a very large construction and "Energy Services" (i.e.: oil drilling) corporation. so, guess who will be getting those contracts after the war? Halliburton. guess who will be getting kickbacks from these contracts? Vice President Dick Cheney. It keeps me warm at night knowing that innocent civilians are being maimed and/or dying so that Cheney can have a fat wallet.

anyway, on a more positive note, aaron is coming down today to irvine to visit me, ben and jon. should be a blast! anyway, its time for class... have a nice one, everyone and ill try not to have any more war blogs.
